Do people dislike crossdressers? Or is it just people get confused about them and Trans?

Okay Anon, I am not a good person to ask so I’m also going to tag my good buddies tortle, bendragon-cumbersmaug, and kereellis because they’re smarter than I am.  I’ll reblog anything they add so you get a good answer uwu

Basically, from my own personal experience, the answer to both questions is “yes”.
I know a lot of cisgender, white, hetero males who view crossdressers as “traps” and are generally really disgusted with crossdressers/drag queens.  I also know that it really skews the image people have when it comes to transwomen…because of drag queens being so prominent in pop culture people immediately assume transwomen are just men dressing like women.  And that’s not a good thing.

That’s really all I know on the subject so, hopefully, either Jay, Jazi, or Chris can add to this for me because they teach me everything.

Anything that isn’t considered the “normal” binary two-genders-only-biology-matters is disliked, no matter if it’s a man that enjoys wearing clothing designated feminine (gendering clothing is so silly, much like assigning gender to toys or candies) or if it’s a transwoman wearing what she wants and people misgender her and call her a man. That’s just how society is, unfortunately.

I also would like to point out that the idea of “traps” is a very harmful thing because often it implies that trans people are dressing as the “opposite” gender in order to intentionally surprise people by not having the genitals they were assumed to have. Only saying this cos Teet mentioned it in her reply and I wanted to make this clear for the anon (and anybody reading this) as a sort of added note.

Thank you, Chris!

Since Chris reminded me:
The term “trap” is really disgusting and horrible and I in no way think its okay.  I just used the term since that’s all straight boys around me call them 8]

Chris sums up my feelings pretty fucking well:
Chris: straight white cisboys can take my fist right up their ass, thorugh their digestive system, and out their piehole

Sadness that I was not tagged even though I am trans.
I’m so sorry!  I’m gonna add a tag for you and you’re obviously welcome to add on to my post because you’re also much smarter than me when it comes to these issues.

Sam Pepper handcuffs himself to women on the street, refusing to release one woman until she kisses him

In January, Sam Pepper uploaded a video called “How To Get A Girlfriend Easy” in which he sneaks up behind or beside unsuspecting women on the street and handcuffs them to himself. He then tells them they’re “his girlfriend now.”

When one victim reacts furiously, saying “No! I don’t know you! Take it off!” and demands that he remove the handcuffs, he refuses and replies with “We’re dating now.” She tries again, “Look, I don’t know where you’re from, but we don’t do this in America. Take this off,” while fighting with the cuffs. He refuses again, insisting they’re “going on a date.” She then tells him that she’s married, to which he says “No, you’re married to me now,” and refuses yet again to remove the handcuffs.

At the end of the video, another woman is pleading with him to undo the handcuffs, and he refuses to until she kisses him on the lips. Pepper appears to think the entire scenario is hilarious at best and endearingly misguided at worst, while the women being “pranked” are visibly livid, terrified, and profoundly uncomfortable.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

We need to stop calling assault by white men on men of color and women of all races “pranks,” because it makes them seem lighthearted and fun, not like the violent criminal acts they are.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE PRANKS.

Signs your “prank” is not actually a prank:

-Victim of so-called prank does not laugh

-Other people repeatedly tell you it’s not a prank

-Involves making women fear for their immediate safety and forces them into getting sexually assaulted, because yes, forcing or threatening someone into kissing you is sexual assault

-Reinforces existing power structure of men’s entitlement

Remember, kids: Pranks can be funny. And a little mean. But if it’s really not funny at all and it goes beyond being mean to being threatening to a complete stranger, you are not playing a prank. You’re being a shitty excuse for a human being.

I think a lot of people have trouble understanding transgender issues because they try to see themselves as trans, but come at it from the wrong direction. i.e. a cis woman tries to understand transness by going, “what if I felt like/wanted to be a man” when she should be approaching it as “what if I, a woman, was so easily mistaken for a man that I had to pretend to be one”,

And I think this is something to keep in mind and to explain away when trying to get these matters across to people who’re new to the idea.

Hey tumblr! Did you know that if you suffer from depression / anxiety or any other mental illness, you can register your dog as an emotional support animal, making it illegal for a landlord to refuse to rent to you? That’s right. No breed restrictions, no weight restrictions, no matter what, they are not allowed to refuse.

This includes cats, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs, etc.!! Go here to register your pet as an ESA :~)

I would like to announce: DO NOT DO THIS

DOING THIS ADDS TO THE PROBLEM OF FAKE “SERVICE DOGS” THAT MAKE IT HARDER FOR PEOPLE WHO NEED A REAL, PROFESSIONALLY-TRAINED SERVICE ANIMAL TO BE ABLE TO OWN ONE AND TAKE IT WITH THEM.

WHEN YOUR “EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL” CAUSES PROBLEMS IT MAKES THE LANDLORD SKEPTICAL OF THE NEXT RENTER WHO SHOWS UP WITH AN ACTUAL SERVICE ANIMAL.

YES DEPRESSION IS A SERIOUS ILLNESS AND THERE ARE SERVICE ANIMALS FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. BUT REGISTERING YOUR PET AS A SERVICE ANIMAL OF ANY KIND ONLY ADDS TO THE GROWING PROBLEM OF ANIMALS WITH FALSIFIED RECORDS

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT NSARCO DOT COM IS A SCAM AND ANY WEBSITE SELLING THESE “CERTIFICATIONS” TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS A SCAM. YOU CANNOT BUY  A REAL CERTIFICATION FOR YOUR PET.

Ok, this is fucking HUGE. Fake support animals, untrained ESAs? Yeah, they’re a HUGE danger to the REAL service dog teams. Y’know, the people who LEGITIMATELY NEED a service dog, for visible or invisible disabilities. You are cheapening and destroying the idea of a service dog when you take your leash pulling, non-potty trained, dog aggressive bully mutt into a store with you with your fake registrations and faux service vests. When you let others in the store pet your dog, they start to think that they can pet any “service dog” because they don’t know the difference between you with your pet that you just wanted to take anywhere, and the dog that is actually doing a job. This can cause undue stress on the handler who might have PTSD, severe anxiety, etc, or ANY handler with ANY issue. These dogs are WORKING dogs, not pets whose owner wanted to take their dog in a shop.

You cause problems like THIS:

image

Do. not. just go out and register your cutesy little poorly trained pet dog as an ESA just so you can take it where you want. It’s dangerous and hurtful, and can lean to places and businesses working to keep REAL service animals out of their establishments.

TRUE service dogs have gone through years and years of training to help their humans. Do NOT cheapen the effort and work that goes into the animals for the work they do for their humans just because you want fluffy to come in and have lunch with you. Don’t.

I was going to like and reblog this for the original reblog warning of not registering through that site. Because sammiwolfe made very good points.
but then I read lower, and while I can see the legitimate points and issues it just screams of gross.

Specifically singling out ‘dog aggressive bully mutt’?
using the words ‘suck it up’ with that attitude of ‘deal with yours because I have real problems that are way worse than yours. so I need it more’?
Like people with legitimate anxiety and ptsd, etc, have not been told to ‘suck it up’ before. Let alone denied a service animal or even the chance to get one.

There’s a reason sites like that get traffic and it’s not just about people wanting to drag their pets places for the hell of it. It’s because there are tons of people out there who have no avenue to get a full trained service dog, and are working with their on animals to use them as such. Because they need them just as much as anyone else.

Is it a great trend? Oh hell no. It’s detrimental of course, but maybe instead of telling people to ‘suck up’ their intense emotional and mental problems and just deal with going out in public, consider addressing the issue of service animals being out of peoples reach. Make them more accessible.

and at no point in this post was it even alluded to that people just wanted ‘fluffy to have lunch with them.’
This post was made with good intentions of helping people with depression and anxiety maybe endure life easier using their pets. Assaulting them is not going to help your cause. Pushing them out as ‘not as bad’ as you is just as harmful.

How about you consider the various situations that people come from and that not everyone has the opportunities you have been presented with? They come from situations you cannot even fathom and you have no idea what kind of access to things they may have.

how about people stop assuming they are so much more worse off than other people and deserve something so much more. That entire reblog felt like a rant about people without obvious handicaps parking in handicap spots, to be honest.
